From live music to additional special events like Girl Scout Days, Bloomin' Yoga and Tea in the Garden - there is something for everyone. Stay awhile and enjoy a variety of food trucks or fun treats from The Strawberry Shack of Carlsbad.
The Flower Fields at Carlsbad Ranch are primed to add a pop of color to the rolling hills of Northern San Diego County with over 70 million flowers set to bloom beginning Tuesday, March 1, 2022.
The Flower Fields feature nearly 50 acres of Giant Tecolote Ranunculus, a flower renowned for its large, double-petaled blooms that sit atop tall, straight stems. The Southern California attraction’s 2022 theme of “Escape Into Color” is fitting as the seemingly endless rows of color-coordinated blooms create a strikingly beautiful backdrop that immerses visitors in floral splendor. “The Flower Fields are truly a national jewel,” says Fred Clarke, general manager of The Flower Fields at Carlsbad Ranch. “The season is one of the most spectacular and coordinated displays of natural color and beauty anywhere in the world. We are the springtime playground of family outings, first dates and even weddings. We are honored to not only be a part of the area’s local heritage but to also have our annual burst of color be a part of so many individual family traditions…and photos!” The fields today are a direct result of nearly 85 years of floral cultivation that began with Luther Gage, an early settler and horticulturist that settled in the area in the early 1920’s. For nearly six decades, The Flower Fields at Carlsbad Ranch have operated at its current location and the bloom is an undeniable spectacle.
Visitors will be able to enjoy live outdoor music, local circus and theater group performances among other experiences like the American Flag of Flowers, Tractor Wagon Ride featuring brand new tractors, Artist Gardens & Aviaries, a Sweet Pea Maze and Cymbidium Orchid Greenhouse. This year, the crowd favorite blueberry picking will return along with the debut of the Sea of Sunflowers in April or May.
