Torrey Pines boasts two of the most picturesque championship 18-hole golf courses in the world. Situated atop cliffs towering above the Pacific Ocean, golfers can marvel at the breathtaking views of the coastline and deep ravines, and nature lovers can spot the famous Torrey Pines trees that are indigenous to the area.
Torrey Pines is a municipal golf course, owned and operated by the City of San Diego. In addition to the North and South courses, facilities include a driving range, practice putting greens, food and beverage carts and a restaurant at the Lodge at Torrey Pines which is adjacent to the golf course.
Torrey Pines Golf Course is also home to one of the western United States largest golf shops, offering a full range of golf merchandise for sale and the rental of golf shoes, clubs, hand and power golf carts. Group and individual golf lessons are offered by the pro staff.
The world-renowned Torrey Pines is a well-known PGA Tour stop with the Farmers Insurance Open (formerly known as the Buick Invitational) held every year in January or February. The course hosted the 2008 U.S. Open Championship and the LPGA Tour's 2009 Samsung World Championship and also annually hosts the SDJGA's Callaway Junior World Golf Championships.
