Once in Baja, in a two-hour radius from San Diego, you’ll discover urban culture, beach communities and a bucolic countryside. For travelers looking for an alternative arrival or departure option, the Cross Border Xpress (CBX) terminal, a pedestrian skywalk bridge connecting the Tijuana International Airport to San Diego, makes both domestic and International travel to the region quite easy.
Located south along the coast, Rosarito is a young resort community known for its beaches, oceanfront hotels, aquatic adventures, shopping, seafood dining and nightlife. . After a day browsing Rosarito’s ceramics, curios, leather goods, baskets, clothing, and jewelry shops, indulge at one of Rosarito's many fine restaurants, featuring Mexican seafood, Chinese and a variety of other cuisines. Just south of Rosarito, in Puerto Nuevo is the famous "Lobster Village," known for the tasty crustaceans.
Located approximately 70 miles south of the international border, Ensenada is an easy 90-minute drive from San Diego along a scenic toll highway, noted for its breathtaking ocean vistas, coastal cliffs and viewpoints. Known as one of the leading resort and commercial centers on the Baja peninsula, Ensenada also boasts a protected harbor with modern port facilities—home to visiting cruise ships and a large sportfishing fleet. Be sure to explore the Mercado Negro fish market, local taco shops, seafood carts, craft beer breweries, mescal and margarita bars, museums and more.
Just outside of Ensenada you’ll find the Valle De Guadalupe. Considered the Napa Valley of Mexico, Valle de Guadalupe produces 90% of Mexico’s wine, and enchants as a paradise for wine aficionados. There are more than 100 wineries to explore ranging from artisan and boutique winemakers to large and small commercial vineyards. In addition to offering tours and wine tastings, some of the wineries are also home to outstanding restaurants, serving gourmet farm-fresh cuisine and local seafood.
