WSL SAMBAZON Junior Championships

24 men and 24 women surfers will compete for the chance at surfing’s immortality and a wildcard directly into the upcoming Challenger Series, a springboard to the elite WSL Championship Tour.
The WSL SAMBAZON Junior Championships is the most prestigious junior event on the planet and a proven benchmark for future greatness in the surfing world. Surfers from around the globe compete in their respective Regional Pro Junior Series for a chance at qualifying for the WSL SAMBAZON Junior Championships, held at the start of the new year.
Winners of the WSL SAMBAZON Junior Championships not only join a hallowed class of past champions, but they and their fellow Finalists are given wildcards directly into the Challenger Series events (effectively shortening their pathway towards qualifying for the elite Championship Tour).
- All athletes will be 20 years of age or younger
- Each region has their own qualifying standards and number of events
- Each region will send the same number of athletes to the World Junior Championships

The SAMBAZON World Junior Championships Hosted by Best Western will open on January 9 and hold a competition window through January 14, 2024. Once called ON, the event will be broadcast LIVE on WorldSurfLeague.com, WSL’s YouTube channel, and the free WSL app. Also, check local listings for coverage from the WSL’s broadcast partners.
