Festival promoters Good Vibez Presents—hosts of Monterey’s world-famous California Roots Music and Arts Festival—are happy to announce the summer arrival of Holo Holo Music Festival to San Diego’s Thrive Park at Snapdragon Stadium on July 13th and 14th. The popular traveling festival brings together fans of island and reggae music for two days jam-packed with great tunes, great food, and great company. Saturday, July 13th, finds Grammy-nominated singer J Boog sharing the lineup with his mentor, island reggae icon FIJI, and Sunday brings Maui-formed country reggae stars Maoli and New Zealand’s roots rock mainstays Katchafire to the stage, along with many many more.
“‘Holo Holo’ means ‘to travel, to sail, to move,’” says O‘ahu-born Good Vibez co-owner, Dan Sheehan. “This familiar expression is most often heard between friends as in ‘let’s holo holo up country,’” he says when detailing the festival’s origin. The inaugural Holo Holo Music Festival took place in Northern California in 2022, but, in Sheehan’s words “this event desires movement,” which brought its second gathering to Las Vegas, Nevada, in the early summer of 2023, to Sacramento the following September, and now to San Diego this summer.
