Sonic Meditations

PST ART Weekend

As part of PST ART Weekend: San Diego & La Jolla, join Amy Cimini (Associate Professor of Music, UC San Diego) and Charissa Noble (Assistant Professor of Music, University of San Diego) for a two-day performance and workshop in Jacobs Hall that draws on the ideas of composer Pauline Oliveros. Oliveros’ Sonic Meditations were a series of activities and text-based scores that emphasize somatic healing through close listening.

Both programs are free with RSVP, which also includes free admission to the Museum.

Make the climb on a guided tour that highlights the origins of Balboa Park and the histories of some of the many diverse communities that call the region home. All tours culminate in breathtaking 360-degree views of San Diego from the Tower’s eighth-floor viewing deck–from the Pacific Ocean in the west to the Cuyamaca Mountains in the east, and beyond.

San Salvador Sailing Adventure Package

Apr 1 - ongoing

The Maritime Museum of San Diego is the only attraction to offer this popular day sail adventure experience aboard San Salvador, a replica of Juan Rodriguez Cabrillo’s ship that arrived at the port we now call San Diego on September 28, 1542. These 4-hour Sailing Adventures are for people who love history and sailing. Few 21st Century people have sailed aboard a 16th Century galleon. You can become one of them. No sailing experience is required. An invaluable addition to your experience is the onboard historian who will explain how the San Salvador was sailed, navigated and defended.

In addition to learning about the exploration of the West Coast, guests can assist the sail crew, enhancing their back-in-time experience.

Your tickets include general admission to visit the Museum fleet of ships and exhibits before your sail!
