With a mission of bringing people together to discover, create and celebrate both the visual and performing arts, the California Center for the Arts, Escondido is the cultural center of North San Diego County. Visit the Museum this fall to see José Guadalupe Posada: Legendary Printmaker of Mexico, an exhibition from Landau Traveling Exhibitions. This exhibition features artworks from one of Mexico’s most celebrated artists, José Guadalupe Posada. Posada’s satirical skeletons (calaveras) are instantly recognizable. His artwork lampooned politicians, recorded images from the Mexican Revolution, and inspired artists to use their art for social causes. Posada’s iconic imagery also adorned concert tickets for the Grateful Dead and his calaveras are emblematic of Día de los Muertos imagery.
