Dr. Seuss’s How the Grinch Stole Christmas! is a wonderful, whimsical musical based upon the classic Dr. Seuss book. Back for another incredible year, the family favorite features the songs “Santa for a Day,” “You’re a Mean One, Mr. Grinch,” and “Welcome, Christmas (Fah Who Doraze),” the delightful carol from the popular animated version of How the Grinch Stole Christmas! Celebrate the holidays as the Old Globe Theatre is once again transformed into the snow-covered Who-ville, right down to the last can of Who-hash.

Stroll the festively decorated streets as you enjoy culinary creations from our award-winning Del Mar Village restaurants, sips from local beverage partners at “Sip Stops” inside downtown Del Mar businesses, live music and other holiday happenings as part of the North Pole by the Sea day of family-friendly festivities.

As the perfect event for spooky season, and the kick-off of the series, the evening’s feature is The Phantom of the Opera from 1925, the first film adaptation of Gaston Leroux's 1910 horror novel. Lon Chaney’s portrayal of the titular character, a deformed virtuoso haunting the Paris Opera House, has been lauded as one of the greatest performances in horror cinema to date. Upon entering the theater, VIP guests will be treated to an exclusive prelude with organist Russ Peck who will share the history of the theater’s organ and his unique approach to crafting a silent film score that echoes the era in which the films were created.
